Dong Po Colonial Cafe

Morning Breakfast @ Dong Po Colonial Café

After seeing pictures from a friend on Facebook
The BF and I decided to wake up early on Sunday to try this café

Located near Haji Lane and Arab Street, the retro shop sells Hand made 50s and 60s pastries.

We reached at about 11 plus but place wasn't that packed.
The place is decorated with a very oriental feel with oriental music
bringing you back to the 50s/60s

There are wide variety of pastries served there.  From Cakes to Tarts.
I'm not a very sweet tooth person and chose something more traditional.

I got the Soft boiled eggs (Childhood all time Fav)
remembering having breakfast with my dad and him cracking the eggs for me,
and now, i'm doing it myself.

 My Kopi - O and Bf's Teh
 The traditional Pastries we've gotten.
my Butter cake and bf's tart
Vanilla Long Cup and Chocolate cake

I must say I'm not a total fan of the butter cake and Vanilla cake.
I prefer it more moist.
But if I dip it into my coffee, it becomes a different story.
It becomes soft with the coffee aroma.
But still, I like it original moist and the buttery feel.

Of all I took there, I love the Toast.
crispy with Kaya and butter.
On the first mouth, the Kaya and butter combination just burst in your mouth

MMmmmmm..

I will definitely go back there for their Toast and Coffee.
A good place for a traditional morning.

You can visit their Facebook for more details

For those who drives, there is a open air carpark around the corner.
Short wait is needed but definitely able to find a lot.

PasarBella Singapore

Turf City Transformed

The place I once felt like a ghost town became
a fun place now with PasarBella.

The first Multi Sensory Grocery in Singapore which consist of
30 unique stores like a market (the Atas kind)
and as well FOOD!!

The sad thing is that we went a little too late.
Most of the Pasar is closed.

So we headed down to the Seafood and Japanese area

Open Concept

The seafood there are mostly LIFE
Lobster, Crabs, Shell fish etc.

Food from out of the Seafood area that the BF went hunting
while waiting for our Seafood.

If you expect to tell them how you want it to be cooked
or
expecting a variety of cooking method,
I'm sorry.
They only have boiled

You think, how nice can it be being just boiled?
I can say, its delicious.
because it is very fresh, the sweetness just burst out in your mouth.
(it comes with different sauces at the side)
The meat for the Lobster taste very chewy and sweet.
Mouth after Mouth you won't feel that you are eating too much.

I love Crab roe.
The moment it went into my mouth,
I went OMG and looked at the BF.
Absolutely fresh and sweet.

Following, for Sashimi came

Nothing much I will say for this Sashimi.
All I can say is that the portion is quite thick.

Chye Seng Huat Hardware

Chye Seng Huat Hardware

After numerous feedback from friends,
I finally paid a visit to the café with a unique name.

Located very near Lavender Foodcourt,
this café is situated amongst the shop houses.

Parking is a killer there during weekends.
Hardly am I able to find a space to park.
After rounding the area, finally parked at Lavender foodcourt
and walked over.

It is a free seating style like coffeeshop,
so be patient to wait for a seat like coffeeshop during lunch hour.
(not sure if can use tissue to CHOP place)

Waiting timing for me is about 10 -15mins
The BF went to order our food at the counter while I waited.
Small seating area at the bar, almost elbowing the lady beside.

Super innovative way to serve chilled coffee
Sugar syrup and Milk by the side

The coffee taste really nice....

if you are a coffee lover, you will like the coffee
(not typical coffeeshop coffee taste)

Our Appetizer - Butter Cake

My lunch - Scramble egg with Bacon and Toast at the side.

The Bf's Pork Chop
I must say that this pork chop is surprisingly GOOD.
Tender Juicy and sweet tasting.

Our Dessert.
If I did not remember wrongly it is Cashew Croissant and the black one will be the Chocolate cake
For some reason, I find the Chocolate Cake taste..... weird.  Not very chocolaty
but still, I do not really like.
Maybe just not my cup of tea..

This is how much our food cost. (not including dessert)

To me, this is a rather unique and fun set up.
A good experience and definitely will visit again for the Pork Chop!!
